How to play

Goal of the game

Waves of ships march down in formation towards your line of defence. Destroy them all before they reach the ground, taking cover behind the energy shields.

Controls

  • Keyboard: ← → or A D to move the cannon; Space or ↑ to fire (hold the key for continuous fire); P or Esc to pause.
  • Touch screen: put your finger anywhere on the field and slide: the cannon follows your movement and fires automatically. The d-pad and the Fire button are also available.
  • Only one of your shots can be in flight at a time: every shot counts.

Enemies and points

  • Scouts (top row): 30 points.
  • Cruisers: 20 points.
  • Drones: 10 points.
  • Mystery saucer: 50 to 300 points. Its value seems down to chance… unless you count your shots.

Shields

The four shields crumble pixel by pixel under fire, yours as well as the enemy’s, and melt away on contact with ships that have come down too low. They are rebuilt with every wave.

Waves and lives

The formation speeds up with every ship shot down: the last one races along. Each new wave starts lower, fires more often and aims better. You have three cannons, plus an extra cannon every 3,000 points (six at most). If the formation touches the ground, the game ends immediately.

Tip: take out the edge columns first to slow the descent, and shoot through a gap in a shield to strike from cover.

About the AI

The shooter is always the lowest ship in a column. A share of the shots, growing with the level and the waves, targets the column where you are standing, anticipating your movement; the others come from a random column. The marching pace follows the proportion of ships remaining, and the number of simultaneous projectiles increases as the waves go by.

Speed

  1. RelaxedSlow formation, enemy shots rare and inaccurate.
  2. NormalClassic pace: the formation speeds up with every ship shot down.
  3. FastStarts lower, with more frequent and better aimed shots.
  4. IntenseFast march and speedy projectiles: every shelter counts.
  5. InfernalBlazing formation and aimed shots with barely a pause.
