How to play

Goal of the game

Fruit ripens on the orchard trees in waves. Shake each tree at the right moment to bring down its harvest, then catch the fruit in your basket. When the bell rings at the end of the day, the points are counted.

How to play

  • Shaking: tap or click a tree. On a keyboard, Space (or the up arrow) shakes the tree above the basket, and keys 1 to 4 shake a specific tree.
  • The basket: slide your finger anywhere, or move the mouse. On a keyboard: arrow keys ← → or A and D.
  • The stages: green, almost ripe (orange), ripe (it glows softly), then overripe: it turns brown, trembles, falls on its own and splatters.
  • Points: a ripe fruit is worth a lot, an almost ripe one a little. A green fruit is worth nothing, costs 5 points and makes the tree grumpy for a moment: it then refuses to be shaken. An overripe fruit is lost.
  • Perfect pick: shake when every fruit on the tree is ripe and catch them all. Each perfect pick earns 10 extra points and raises the multiplier (up to ×4); a lost fruit resets it.
  • Pause: P or Esc, or the button at the top right. The game also pauses when you leave the page.

Orchard surprises

  • Golden fruit: rare, it ripens fast and is worth 50 points.
  • Bees: do not shake a tree where a bee is feeding; it stings and your basket slows down.
  • Wasps: they skim the ground; move your basket out of their path.
  • Wormy apples: a small hole gives the worm away. Let it fall beside the basket (5 points off if you catch it).
  • Showers: everything ripens almost twice as fast while it rains.
  • Wind: when leaves streak across the sky, a gust is coming and will knock down the ripe fruit.
  • Thieving squirrel: it climbs up to steal the finest fruit. Tap it to chase it away (3 points).
  • Pumpkins: worth 25 points, but they weigh down the basket for a moment.

The campaign

Four seasons of nine orchards: spring cherry trees, summer peaches and plums, autumn apples and pears, then late autumn at the vineyard with grapes and pumpkins. Each orchard has a goal (fill the basket, land perfect picks, waste nothing, survive the wasps, catch the golden fruit) and is worth 1 to 3 stars depending on your points. Each orchard you clear opens the next; a season opens once the previous one has 12 stars.

Game modes

  • Solo: the campaign, the endless mode (five hearts: a fruit that rots, gets stolen or splatters while ripe, or a sting, and you lose a heart; each completed day gives one back) and the daily challenge, the same for everyone.
  • Against the AI: an automatic picker works a mirror orchard, with exactly the same fruit and the same surprises. Five strengths, from Pip to Master Grafter. The best score wins.
  • Two players: split screen on the same device, each with their own orchard and basket, same seed. Player 1: A and D, W to shake. Player 2: arrow keys, ↑ to shake. On a touch screen, each player uses their own half.
  • Online: up to four players pick the same orchard at the same time; the best score wins.

Pace

For the endless mode, duels and online races, five paces: Gentle, Normal, Fast, Intense and Infernal. The faster the pace, the more trees, wasps and fruit to watch. The campaign has its own pace, orchard by orchard.

Tip: put the basket on one side of the tree before shaking it. The harvest falls in a cascade, starting with the fruit closest to the basket: then just sweep across in one move.

AI picker strength

  1. BeginnerPip is new to the orchard: shakes too early and often misses the fruit.
  2. AmateurHazel learns fast, but wasps still catch her off guard.
  3. IntermediateGleaner waits for the fruit to glow and stands in the right spot.
  4. ExpertMirabelle lands many perfect picks and chases off the squirrel.
  5. MasterMaster Grafter wastes almost nothing: you need a flawless day to beat him.
